דני אורבך הוא היסטוריון צבאי. הוא למד באוניברסיטאות תל אביב וטוקיו, וקיבל את הדוקטורט שלו באוניברסיטת הרווארד. הוא מתמחה בחקר הפיכות, התנקשויות פוליטיות ואי ציות צבאי, דינמיקה של פשעי מלחמה, הרפתקנים צבאיים וההיסטוריה של המודיעין. 

שני ספריו האחרונים הם The Plots against Hitlerמחקר על רשתות הקשר נגד היטלר בצבא הגרמני, ו-Curse on this Country: The Rebellious Army of Imperial Japanעל תרבות אי הציות בצבא היפני והאופן שבו הובילה את יפן למלחמת העולם השנייה. "המזימות נגד היטלר" יצא גם במהדורה עברית (ואלקירי - ההתנגדות הגרמנית להיטלר) וכן מהדורות בצ'כית, איטלקית, ספרדית, קרואטית, רומנית ותאית,  ו"קללה על הארץ" תורגם לעברית בהוצאת אוניברסיטת תל אביב כ"בוגדים למען המולדת - המורדים הפטריוטים של יפן". 

דני כותב ספר על מרגלים וסוכנים כפולים נאצים במלחמה הקרה, שעתיד לצאת בהוצאת Hurst הבריטית, ועורך ביחד עם עמיתים מחקרים על היסטוריה טרנס-לאומית של ריגול במאה ה-20 ודינמיקה של מעשי טבח לא מכוונים בזמן סכסוך אלים. כבלוגר פוליטי, הוא כותב באופן סדיר לתקשורת הישראלית, ובעבר כתב גם בג'רוזלם פוסט. מבחר ממאמריו האקדמיים ניתן לקרוא בדף שלו ב-academia.eduבאתר שלו באמזון ובבלוג שלו, הינשוף. הוא גם מנהל את הפודקאסט "סוכן משולש" על מודיעין וריגול, שאפשר להאזין לו כאן.

 

Dr. Danny Orbach is a military historian. A graduate of Harvard University, he specializes in the study of coups d'etat, political assassinations and military disobedience, and also in the dynamics of war crimes, military adventurism and the history of intelligence. His lastest books are The Plots against Hitler (Houghton Mifflin Harcourt), a study of the anti-Nazi resistance in the German army, and Curse on this Country: The Rebellious Army of Imperial Japan (Cornell University Press), on the culture of insubordination in the Japanese Imperial Army and the roots of the Pacific War. Currently, he is studying military adventurism in the East Asian sphere in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, and is a co-author in projects on the dynamics of unplanned massacres and the  transnational history of espionage in the twentieth century. He is also writing a book on Nazi intelligence veterans in the Cold War. 

In addition, Danny Orbach runs "The Owl", a blog on politics and history in Hebrew, and the podcast "Triple Agent" on intelligence and espionage. He also contributes regularly to the Israeli media on issues of military history and national security.
